VoIP Engineer

Onoff Telecom works on changing the way people use their cellphones around the world.
Their product is a unique mobile application that allows users to instantly add multiple phone numbers from different countries on their cellphones and make calls to more than 100 countries. At the moment, it is possible to add phone numbers from 30+ countries including France, Belgium, UK, USA, and Canada.
Currently, they are looking for a VoIP engineer to join the team and help them build a cutting-edge VoIP application.

Tasks:
  • Setting up, configuring, and maintaining Kamailio and FreeSwitch servers
  • Developing and implementing configurations to support various VoIP services
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting SIP traffic to ensure optimal performance and reliability
  • Monitoring network performance and addressing any issues related to VoIP services
  • Responding promptly to crashes, system failures, and other critical issues
  • Performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures
  • Enforcing security policies to protect the VoIP infrastructure from threats
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and local regulations where Onoff application is being used
  • Implementing and managing change control procedures
  • Implementing load balancing and failover mechanisms
  • Optimizing the performance of VoIP systems to support high availability and low latency
  • Configuring and maintaining telecom infrastructure to ensure seamless operation and integration
  • Staying updated with the latest developments in VoIP technologies and proposing enhancements
  • Administering GNU/Linux operating systems, ensuring system stability and performance
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including software developers, product owners, and QA engineers
  • Creating and maintaining detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
Must-have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with VoIP technologies, specifically Kamailio/OpenSIPS and FreeSwitch
  • Proven experience in analyzing and troubleshooting SIP traffic
  • Experience with network and system monitoring tools and techniques
  • In-depth knowledge of SIP, RTP, and other VoIP protocols
  • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems, particularly GNU/Linux
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, including NAT, firewalls, and VPNs
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation
  • Basic knowledge of WebRTC
  • Experience in developing telecom-related software
Nice-to-have:
  • Good knowledge of SS7 protocol / 3G / 4G networks
  • Experience working with any SBC (e.g., Audiocodes)
  • Experience with Docker
