Remote Senior Backend Developer

Tasks:
  • Design and implement backend software systems that support our families, providers, and Sprout administrators  
  • Work closely with front-end engineers to seamlessly integrate backend APIs 
  • Uphold standards for quality by performing code reviews, fixing bugs, creating automated tests, and monitoring performance
  • Work closely with other engineers, product managers, and designers to collaborate on the features that will help our users 
  • Support uptime through participation in engineering on-call rotations
Must-have skills:
  • The primary language is Kotlin but they are ok to interview engineers with solid backend experience in other languages (Python, Ruby, Java, Rust, C# etc. with the ability to write clean, scalable code). The candidate should be ok to switch to Kotlin
  • 5+ years of experience in Senior-level positions
  • Experienced in databases (RDBMS, NoSQL). Their default one is PostgreSQL
  • TDD driven development
  • Experience in managing AWS services (preferably using Terraform) and CI/CD processes
  • Product-oriented mindset (at least last 3 years should work in product company)
  • Understanding of CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, algorithms complexities, etc)
  • Experience of working remotely/ in a distributed team (at least for 3 years)
  • Bachelors / Masters degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering  or related field
  • Flexibility to switch between projects easily and language agnostic 
  • Fluent English 
Nice-to-have skills:
  • Experience with CI platforms
  • Full-stack development experience
