Remote Search Engineer

Klevu creates an intelligent site search solution designed to help eCommerce businesses increase onsite sales and improve the customer online shopping experience. The company produces mass amounts of data on a daily basis. Combined with shopping data being directly delivered to their backend systems with access to shopping catalogues containing both the structured attributes and unstructured product descriptions, they have a wealth of data with immense opportunity to extract valuable insights and improve search accuracy.
Tasks:
  • Build, scale and maintain the Klevu search engine 
  • Design and develop solutions for business needs on the search engine
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert on search technology and mentor the team
Must-have skills:
  • 5+ years of experience with Java
  • Strong experience in a search technology - Solr or Elasticsearch
  • Experience in web application development on Spring framework
  • Experience in designing systems/solutions for complex business problems
  • Experience in building highly scalable web applications using Java stack
  • Product minded engineer with strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively within and outside the organization, and write good technical documentation
  • Familiar with the agile software development process
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English
Nice-to-have skills:
  • Experience in Hibernate, MySql, Redis, ActiveMQ or Kafka
  • Experience in UI Frameworks like Jquery, React, Angular or equivalent
  • Experience in AWS cloud
  • Experience in REST API development
  • Experience working in eCommerce and/or SAAS startups
  • Experience working with microservices architecture
