About the Role
Take the next step in your career as an experienced Software Engineer at Storytel! You will work with cutting-edge technologies alongside experienced colleagues. As a Software Engineer, you will be involved in - and have the opportunity to drive some of - our initiatives to continue developing our product differentiation and user engagement.
You will maintain services using Java, Go, and Kotlin, all deployed in Kubernetes on the Google Cloud Platform. The team also owns several solutions built on top of Elastic search, and collaborates closely with the Machine Learning team to bring a personalised experience to our users.
Besides working with your closest colleagues, you will often interact with other engineering teams, and other functions such as Content Management, Customer Support, and more.
About You
To be successful in this role, we believe that:
- You have a solid knowledge of backend development in Java, and, ideally, experience with other languages and environments - today we maintain distributed services mostly in Java, Go, and Kotlin.
- You have a good understanding of modern architecture, system design, data structures and software engineering principles, and understanding how to apply them to design scalable and robust solutions.
- You are comfortable with deploying and operating services in a cloud environment (we use Google’s Cloud Platform, but experience from other platforms is also valuable).
- You are a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment, and can also work well autonomously and can get things done when required.
- You enjoy both experimentation and building smaller features as well as doing bigger infrastructure improvement work.
- You have experience working closely with business and product stakeholders, and understanding their needs - and you are able to go from the idea stage to scalable and maintainable solutions.
- You are passionate about building great products that people love, and you always make technology choices with this end-goal in mind.
- You believe in iteration and know that finding the right solution is more important than being quick about it.
