Our client is a technology-led hedge fund founded in 2015, passionate about collecting, cleaning, transforming, and storing data to feed trading strategies. Its data driven trading models utilize a variety of open-source technologies and multiple data sources, from vendor APIs to fleet of web crawlers running 24/7, to make trading decisions in the global markets. The firm manages assets on behalf of a diverse range of clients including pension plans, insurance companies, financial institutions, family offices, qualified individual investors, among others.
The data team delivers infrastructure and models to deploy valuable data across the business. Working closely with the researchers and traders, the company builds resilient and easily maintainable data models and pipelines. Additionally, their developers support live trading by maintaining pipeline operations and enhancing their data platform by developing new frameworks, libraries, and services, thereby enhancing team efficiency, throughput, and code quality.
Tasks:
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of investment research teams' data needs and provide the right solution to them
  • Develop, test, and optimize Python data applications, frameworks, and services
  • Collaborate with technologists and researchers to align data applications and platforms with evolving business needs
  • Write and review technical documentation, including requirements for researchers and proposals for platform enhancements, as well as production support guidelines
  • Frequently take the lead on production support operations
Must-have:
  • Bachelor’s in a technology-related field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, etc.)
  • 3+ years’ experience with Python (inc. Numpy & Pandas) as well as significant experience with SQL, as a software developer, quantitative developer, or data engineer
  • 3+ years’ experience at either a hedge fund or for a trading group on the buy-side
  • Experience developing and shipping production-quality data pipelines
  • Strong design, debugging, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
Nice-to-have:
  • Experience with any of the following systems/tools: Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow, any RDBs, any columnar database technology, Redis, gRPC, Protobuf
